Planned electricity interruption in Gordon’s Bay

04 March 2020

The City of Cape Town would like to inform residents and businesses in its Gordon’s Bay area of supply of a planned electricity interruption.

The interruption is due to maintenance and electricity infrastructure upgrades and will take place from 05:00 until 18:00 on 15 April 2020, or on 13 May 2020 or 20 May 2020. In case of bad weather which may delay the work on 15 April 2020, the interruption will take place on 13 May 2020 or 20 May 2020.

All electricity installations must be treated as live for the full duration of the interruption as supply may be restored at any time without prior warning.

Residents are advised to switch off geysers and disconnect sensitive electronic equipment to prevent damage from possible power surges when the supply is restored.

‘Necessary maintenance and upgrade work is required to improve the reliability and security of the electricity supply.

‘The City apologises for any inconvenience caused. We thank residents for their cooperation and understanding,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy and Climate Change, Councillor Phindile Maxiti.

A map of the affected areas can be viewed on the City’s website at https://bit.do/GordonsBayMap
